Loveyatri featuring debutants Aayush Sharma and Warina Hussain has not only failed to impress critics but also audience. Film's box office collection on day 1 speaks volumes about audience's choice. Loveyatri which was promoted on a large scale made a business of around Rs 1.72- 2 crore. On the other hand, AndhaDhun which released on the same day got rave reviews and it minted Rs 2.25-2.50 crore.
A report in boxofficeindia.com states that while AndhaDhun's collection is expected to witness a jump, Loveyatri might fail to perform better on weekends.
Loveyatri, directed by debutant Abhiraj Minawala has been written by Niren Bhatt. Produced by Salman Khan Films, the movie is set in the backdrop of Gujarat and the story is about an aimless boy who falls for NRI girl. However, her ruthless father is in no mood to accept the boy of 'lower status' as his daughter's life partner. How the lovers meet and overcome the rift created between them forms an important part of the story.
Loveyatri has been slammed by critics for its poor script and performances. The lead actor Aayush Sharma is superstar Salman Khan's brother-in-law. He tied the knot with Salman's sister Arpita in 2014.
On the other hand, AndhaDhun which is a gritty and compact thriller featuring Ayushmann Khurrana, Tabu, Radhika Apte among others has been directed by Sriram Raghavan. It is a story about a blind pianist who 'witnesses' a murder.
