Katrina Kaif is currently busy promoting her upcoming film, Bharat. This is no secret that the actress stepped into the shoes of Priyanka Chopra after she left the film citing her engagement. Katrina has always maintained that since Salman Khan and director Ali Abbas Zafar are good friends, she was happy to be the part of this period drama. Salman Khan had earlier even confessed that Katrina was the first choice for the film and eventually she bagged the role. Now, the actress has also reacted on replacing the desi girl of Bollywood in the Ali Abbas Zafar directorial and reveals that producer Atul Agnihotri always wanted her to do the film.
While talking to Mumbai Mirror about the film and her role, Katrina said, "Atul has always been very supportive and really wanted me to do the film. And in the end, that’s what happened. Yes, Salman and I share great chemistry, but when I walked onto this set, I was very clear that the script demanded a different kind of dynamics between us and I had to maintain it." She added, "So, I would not have lunch or hang out with him. It's different with an action film like Tiger (Ek Tha Tiger and Tiger Zinda Hai) where you can chat chill. But here, I wanted Bharat and Kumud to appear like two people meeting for the first time and forging a connection. I hope you see that in the film."
Though Katrina wasn't the first one to play the role of Kumud Raina in the film, she is happy that she played the part. Talking to an entertainment website earlier, Katrina said, "Although I wasn't Ali's first choice and it was Priyanka (Chopra), I'm happy it has come to me. When I read the character of Kumud, I felt there's so much I can do in it and I wanted to immerse myself completely into it. I just hope that I keep getting to play such exciting characters which have enough meat in them."
Katrina Kaif has been enjoying the praises for her last role of Babita Kumar in the film Zero. Now she is gearing up to impresses the audience and critics with her stellar performance in Salman Khan starrer Bharat. The film is set to release on Eid, June 5 and also stars Disha Patani, Sunil Grover, Tabu, Jackie Shroff and Nora Fatehi.
