Karan Johar expresses grief over Kamala Mills fire

Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar expressed shock and grief over the Kamala Mills tragedy that killed 4 people on Friday. A major fire broke out in a building in Mumbai’s Kamala Mills compound which consumed the life of 14 while injuring 21 others.

About 21 others were critically injured in the major fire that broke out at around 12.30 a.m. in the rooftop restaurant in The Kamla Trade House and quickly spread to another pub and a restaurant in the vicinity.

Expressing his grief, the 45-year-old director took to his Twitter, writing, "Shocked and deeply saddened with the unfortunate and tragic event at #KamlaMills ....my prayers with the families and loved ones.....this is just so sad and heartbreaking....."

Emphasizing on safety regulations actor Pulkit Samrat also tweeted, "Saddened and shocked to know about the #KamlaMills tragedy! Life can't be this cheap!! Safety regulations must be strengthened!! Heart bleeds for the families affected.. ????".

Earlier in the day, five Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials were suspended in the wake of a massive fire at Mumbai's Kamala Mills, which claimed 14 lives.

The Mumbai Police booked the owner of the pub for negligence, besides other charges have also been levelled against him for the fire, which is suspected to be triggered by an electrical short-circuit.
