Popular Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar‘s mother Hiroo Johar turned 76 years old today and KJo hosted a birthday party for his mother at a popular restaurant in Mumbai. Karan Johar has always been quite vocal about the kind of bond he shares with her mother. In his autobiography An Unsuitable Boy, he explained that while growing up it was his mother and her sisters who had the maximum impact on his life. He said that he learnt the act of kindness, the attitude of never giving up and the importance of emotions in one’s life from her. Recently, in an interview, Karan opened up on how Hiroo has been playing the role of a mother not to him but also to his kids as well.
Taking to Instagram, Karan Johar shared a lovely picture from the birthday celebration and said, "Happy birthday to the big love of my life!!!! Happy birthday mama!!!! love you so much!".
The birthday party was attended by Hiroo’s friends namely Jaya Bachchan, Sharmila Tagore, Salma Khan, Reema Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor’s wife Neila Devi.
Also attending the bash were Karan’s friends Natasha Poonawala and Anu Dewan among others. Several inside pictures from the celebration are also surfacing on the internet.
Hiroo Johar dedicates her most of the time to her grandkids Roohi and Yash. Karan had welcomed the twins by surrogacy in February 2017. While his son is named after his father, his daughter Roohi’s name is an re-arrangement of Hiroo’s name.
