Kangana Ranaut, who was last seen in period drama Manikarnika: the Queen of Jhansi, is loaded with Bollywood projects these days. The actress announced two films last year- Anurag Basu’s Imali and Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s Panga, along with her upcoming film Mental Hai Kya. However, the latest reports suggest that the actress has walked out of Anurag Basu’s Imali because she is gearing up to announce her own directorial venture. Kanagan Ranaut made her Bollywood debut with Anurag Basu’s Gangster and the duo have been good friends since then.

Recently, while talking to DNA, Kangana Ranaut confirmed that she won’t be doing Imali now. She said, "Anurag and I have spoken about it. I feel extremely bad because Imali was giving me an opportunity to work with my mentor again, but I’m on the verge of announcing my own film in a few weeks from now. That has taken a lot of my time and I have conveyed it to Anurag, who understood my situation." She further said, “We will work together at some point. Imali is a beautiful love story and we can do that later. But right now, my focus is on my next directorial venture because I’ve just delivered an Rs 100-crore film and it’s the right time for me.”

Other than Panga, Kangana will also be seen in Jayalalitha’s biopic. Throwing light on her character in the film, she said, “I had signed the Jayalalithaa biopic because it’s a strong character and in sync with whatever I’m doing with regards to women empowerment.” The biopic will go on floors this October after the actress has shifted working on Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s sports-drama titled Panga.

Kangana’s last film Manikarnika minted over 100 crores and she received much appreciation for her performance from all corners. Now, the actress is gearing up for the release of her next film Mental Hai Kya which will hit the theaters in May.
