After a day delay, Kalank makers released the title track of the much-awaited multi-starrer. The song crooned by Arijit Singh and Shilpa Rao has soulful lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya. Music has been composed by Pritam. The two-and-a-half-minute video majorly brings out love story of Alia Bhatt's character Roop and Zafar played by Varun Dhawan. Aditya Roy Kapur, Sonakshi Sinha, Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt also appear in the video.
Without much ado, check out the track titled Kalank Nahi Ishq Hai.
The song brings that old world charm and romance. Earlier, talking about the song composer Pritam told Bombay Times that he wanted the song to be on the lines of Sufi. ''It has to be a bright and beautiful romantic number, which underlines the feeling one has when he or she starts loving someone intensely. It’s in the Indian spiritual space, something bordering on Sufi,'' he said.
Kalank is the fourth collaboration between Varun and Alia. The duo has earlier worked in Student of the Year, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhani and Badrinath Ki Dulhania. Kalank has been directed by Abhishek Varman, who has earlier worked with Alia on 2 States.
For unversed, Kalank was originally conceptualised about 15 years ago by the late Yash Johar and KJo was supposed to direct the film with Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, Kajol and Ajay Devgn in lead roles. Kalank slated to hit theatres on April 17 has been produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions.
