Kader Khan reveals why his relationship with Amitabh Bachchan went sour
Bollywood is still in shock that veteran actor Kader Khan has left us. After prolonged illness, the legendary actor passed away on December 31 and soon celebrities started paying their condolences. From Amitabh Bachchan to Govinda, many Bollywood celebs took to their social media to share their fond memories with Kader Khan and praised his talent of not just acting but being a stellar screen writer as well. While everyone is still sad at the loss, an old video has resurfaced on the internet in which Kader Khan is seen revealing the truth about why his relationship with Amitabh Bachchan went sour.
In the video clip posted in 2012, Kader Khan gets candid on camera and reveals, “I used to always call him Amit. Once a producer from the south came and asked, ‘Have you met the Sir ji?’ I asked, ‘Which sir ji?’ He said, pointing at Amit ji, ‘that tall man.’ Amit ji was coming. I said, ‘He’s Amit. When did he become sir ji?’ (He said) ‘We call him sir ji.’ Since then everyone started addressing him as sir ji. I could never bring myself to do it. That was the start of it.”
He further continued, “How can anyone call their friend, their brother from any other name? It is impossible. I couldn’t do it and since then our equation was never the same. I was not in Khuda Gawah. I was writing Ganga Jamunaa Saraswati but then left it midway. There were several other films that I had begun work on but quit.”
After Kader Khan’s death, Amitabh Bachchan took to social media to mourn the death of the actor and wrote, “Kadar Khan passes away .. sad depressing news .. my prayers and condolences .. a brilliant stage artist a most compassionate and accomplished talent on film .. a writer of eminence ; in most of my very successful films .. a delightful company .. and a mathematician !!.”
Kader Khan’s son Sarfaraz also revealed in an interview recently that among all the contemporaries, Kader Khan fondly remembers only one actor- Amitabh Bachchan. Sarfaraz said, "There are so many people in the film industry whom my father was close to. But the one person that my father loved the most was Bachchan saab (Amitabh Bachchan). I'd ask my father whom he missed the most from the film industry and the answer promptly would be Bachchan Saab. And I know the love was mutual. I want Bachchan saab to know that my father spoke about him till the end."
