Janhvi Kapoor, who made her debut with Dhadak, directed by Shashank Khaitan is thrilled to be a part of Karan Johar's next directorial Takht. It is a ''big deal'' for Janhvi and she is "eternally grateful" to the filmmaker for giving her this opportunity.
Takht features Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in lead roles. The period drama also features Bhumi Pednekar, Vicky Kaushal, Ranveer Singh and veteran actor Anil Kapoor. When asked about her reaction on being part of the film, the Dhadak actor said, "What can I say? I am still in shock. It hasn't sunk in yet. It's a big deal for me. I am eternally grateful and blessed that Karan has allowed me to be a part of the film."
Karan Johar is directing a film after a gap of two years. His last work was 2016 romantic drama- Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Sharing the plot of the film, the 46-year-old director wrote on Twitter,"Takht is an incredible story embedded in history. An epic battle for the majestic Mughal throne. A story of a family, of ambition, of greed, of betrayal, of love and of succession."
Sumit Roy has written the screenplay for the film. Hussain Haidry and Roy have penned the dialogues. The project, slated to release in 2020, is produced by Hiroo Yash Johar and Apoorva Mehta.
