Director Indra Kumar is currently busy promoting his upcoming movie Total Dhamaal. The multi-starrer film is a madcap and also has zoo animals as characters. Starring Anil Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Madhuri Dixit and others, Total Dhamaal is the third instalment of the hit franchise Dhamaal.

Indra Kumar has mostly helmed comedies, however, the ongoing trend focuses more on strong female protagonists. For unversed, the director marked his debut with Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit starrer Beta, which released in 1992. The movie was a family drama in which Aruna Irani played Anil Kapoor's stepmother.

Recently, in an interview with TOI, Indra Kumar said that he would love to revisit Beta as he thinks the subject still holds the relevance. He also regretted making 2014 film Super Nani starring Rekha. “It was a perfect drama that suited the times. Given a chance, I would love to revisit that film because I think it still has relevance as a subject. Today, there are so many woman-oriented films being made, but I feel great that I started my career with something like that. After making so many comedies, I want to make a serious film, a story with a female protagonist. Actually, I have a script in mind and I wish instead of Super Nani (2014 film, with Rekha in the lead) I had made that film. It’s such a modern take on women, but sometimes, you make wrong choices,'' he said.

Meanwhile, Total Dhamaal has rehashed version of iconic song Mungda. The 1978 song from the film Inkaar has been originally sung by Usha Mangeshkar whereas lyrics are by Majrooh Sultanpuri and music by Rajesh Roshan. Reportedly, the original makers weren't happy with their creation being ''ripped off''. Reacting to this, Indra Kumar said that he doesn't need anyone's permission to recreate a song.

''We don’t have to take their consent. When Neend Churayi Meri was remade (for Golmaal Again; the original song was from Kumar’s Ishq), no one came to me for approval. The rights belong to the music label, and they (owners of the label) have the right to do what they want to,'' he told in an interview with Mid-Day.

Total Dhamaal is slated to hit the theatres on February 22.
