Ravi Kapoor aka Jeetendra has turned a year older today and is celebrating his 76th birthday on April 7. Born in the year 1942 and popularly called Jumping Jack, the veteran actor was known for his dancing skills besides his subtle acting.
He was dealing with imitation jewellery and had no plans of entering into showbiz unless he was offered a role by V. Shantaram in 1959 Movie Navrang. He got his first major break in 1959 with Geet Gaya Pattharon Ne, however, it was 1967 Farz that marked a turning point in his career. His tee shirt and white shoe for Mast Baharon Ka Main Aashiq number in Farz became his trademark. His vigorous dancing earned him the epithet of Jumping Jack of Bollywood. Jeetendra has done around 200 films and been mostly paired with Sridevi or Jaya Prada.
The actor met his wife Shobha, when she was just 14. The duo tied the knot on 18 October, 1974 in a simple ceremony with family and few friends from industry- Gulzar, Rajesh khanna and Sanjeev Kumar. Hema Malini in her biography claimed that she almost got married to Jeetendra.
