Vivek Oberoi was eyeing his Bollywood comeback with PM Narendra Modi. The biopic on Prime Minister Narendra Modi directed by Mary Kom fame Omung Kumar got embroiled in controversy soon after the trailer launch. After the netizens and opposition parties began calling the movie a 'propaganda' by the ruling party, EC took notice and stopped its release till the poll season.
In a recent interview with Huffington Post, Vivek Oberoi opened up about the film and the controversies. He also poured his heart out on his career graph and said, ''I was sidelined from films and thrown out of projects. It’s a reality in our industry and it’s not just me, a lot of others have gone through the same''. Meanwhile, the actor also revealed that he was supposed to do the blockbuster Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. The Sanjay Dutt starrer 2003 movie which was directed by Rajkumar Hirani went on to become a super hit. Oberoi claimed that he was offered Munna Bhai but he couldn't do it because of date issues.
“I wanted to do Munnabhai, I said yes to it, but destiny had it that it was supposed to be a Sanjay Dutt film. I couldn’t adjust my dates,” Vivek informed HuffPost. Munna Bhai M.B.B.S, which also had actors like Arshad Warsi, Boman Irani, Gracy Singh and Sunil Dutt won the 2004 National Award for Best Popular Film.
After three years, in 2006, a sequel of Munna Bhai M.B.B.S titled Lage Raho Munna Bhai hit the screens. Also, Munna Bhai 3 is currently in the works.
Vivek, later, shared screen space with Sanjay Dutt in two films. The duo did 2007 film Shootout at Lokhandwala and Zilla Ghaziabad, which released in 2013.
