Deepika Padukone talks about ex-boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor’s absence from her wedding reception
It won’t be wrong to say that there is an otherworldly glow on Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone’s face ever since she has tied the knot with the powerhouse of energy Ranveer Singh. The duo got married in Italy’s Lake Como surrounded with close friends and family and later hosted multiple receptions for their friends and colleagues from the industry. While fans were much fascinated with all the celebrities who attended the Mumbai reception, everyone had one thing on their mind, why didn’t Deepika’s ex-boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor attend. Now the actress has spilled the beans about it.
While talking to a film magazine, Deepika Padukone bared it all about her wedding and other festivities. She also opened up about Ranbir Kapoor’s absence from her Mumbai reception and said, We’ve not spoken. I mean, we spoke before the reception but we have not spoken after. But, that’s him. I’m not surprised at all. But that’s the relationship we share and that’s the beauty of that relationship; so much is said without saying much at all.”
Earlier it was reported that Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt didn’t attend the party because were busy with shooting of their upcoming film Brahmastra. Deepika also answered the question that everyone wanted to know- Why they chose Lake Como for their wedding?

Deepika Padukone revealed the choice of venue was due to privacy. “We announced everything, we announced (wedding dates) a month before we got married and I’d anyway taken this year off as I needed to replenish emotionally, so it all just worked out. Why outside of India, because privacy was very important for us and somehow when we went around, that place just felt correct.”
Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh’s fans were head over heels with the duo’s fairytale wedding, however, Deepika likes to call it ‘magical’. She said, “More than fairytale, I’d say it was magical. It was lovely- the weather was perfect, the sun was beautiful, I think magical is the one word to sum it up.”
Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh had been dating for six years before they decided to tie the knot. Deepika opened up about the time she first realised that Ranveer was special for her. She reportedly said that she was in a studio when she met him and he was openly flirting with her although he was dating somebody else at that point. She also added that once they started dating they used to go to various restaurants, but reveals that their most special moments were during the prep of ‘Goliyon Ki Raas Leela: Ram Leela’ at Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s house.
The actress remembered an incident when they were having lunch at the filmmaker’s house and a piece of crab got stuck in her tooth and to make it awkward for her, he said ‘there’s a crab in your mouth’ and Deepika being herself immediately responded by saying, ‘then take it out’! She confessed that this is a moment that all the three of them won’t forget. Their families reportedly met three years ago.
