Few days after Akshay Kumar issued a statement regarding the controversy over his citizenship, good friend and actor Anupam Kher has come in the forefront to defend the Khiladi of Bollywood. In a Twitter post, The Accidental Prime Minister actor defended Akshay Kumar over his citizenship row. Anupam Kher advised Akshay Kumar to stop explaining his loyalty towards India saying that he doesn't need to explain it to anybody.
"Dear @akshaykumar! Have been reading about you explaining to certain people about your loyalty to our country. Stop it! Their real profession is to make people like you & me feel defensive for talking in favour of India. You are a doer. You don’t need to explain to anybody", Anupam Kher wrote on Twitter.
Earlier, actor Paresh Rawal, had also supported the star. In a tweet, he had said, “One of the most honest and straightforward human being I have ever come across in my film career and life . Every word spoken here is a TRUTH and we are all with you @akshaykumar. Let the irrelevants boo and bark.”
Akshay Kumar, who was roped in as the brand ambassador for Canadian tourism in India in 2010, on May 3 had released a statement on his official Twitter account about his Canadian citizenship and had said that he did not understand the negativity and "unwarranted interest" around the subject.
Following, Akshay Kumar's tweet, the actor once again became a victim of social media trolling after a video of him saying "Toronto is my home" went viral. In the video, Akshay can be heard addressing a crowd, apparently in Toronto, "I must tell you one thing, 'This is my home. Toronto is my home.' After I retire from this industry, I'm going to come back here and stay here."
