Alisha Chinai speaks up about allegations against Anu Malik

With sexual harassment allegations piling up against Bollywood singer Anu Malik, it seems that there is no way out for him from the #MeToo wave. Another Bollywood singer Alisha Chinai has lent her support to all the women who have stood against Anu Malik and has claimed that everything said about the singer is true. Alisha was the first one who accused Anu Malik of sexual harassment of when she recorded her famous track Made in India in the 1990s. After she accused him of molesting her, the duo did not work together for many years.

Alisha Chinai was quoted as saying by The Asian Age, “Every word said and written about Anu Malik is true. I stand by all the women who have finally spoken up. May they find peace and closure in their lives." Alisha also revealed that many women were attacked in his house in the presence of his daughter and wife. Alisha pointed out that his peers continued to work with him despite knowing his behaviour. She said, "Producers and filmmakers like Sajid Nadiadwala, Sajid Khan, J. P. Dutta, Gulzar and Rakeysh Mehra continued to work repeatedly with Malik, in spite of his reputation. Some of them must have definitely known about his reputation as the entire film industry, including his own nephews, composer Amaal Mallik, and singer Armaan Malik talk about it. Yet they turned a blind eye to his ugly behaviour."

Last week Shweta Pandit called Anu Malik a paedophile and sexual predator in a long note shared on Twitter. "Had to go back to my worst memory as a teenage girl today to write this and speak up - its now or never. This is my #MeToo and have to warn young girls about #AnuMalik & let you know your #TimesUp @IndiaMeToo Thank you @sonamohapatra for speaking up about him & supporting this," she wrote in her tweet.

Following her, Sona Mohapatra also supported her and two more women came forward to accuse Malik of sexual harassment. In her alleged encounter with Malik, the first woman recalled that the composer "rubbed his body" against her and when she expressed shock at his behavior, he apologized meekly. Another woman, who is an aspiring singer, alleged that she was approached to participate on Indian Idol 10 as a wild card entry but she refused the offer because Malik had sexually harassed her seven years ago.
