Birthday Special: Alia Bhatt wishes mother Soni Razdan with an eye-popping throwback picture

Alia Bhatt’s closeness with her mother is no secret. The actress has always been very vocal about her relationship with her parents and has revealed that mother Soni Razdan is more of a friend to her than a doting mother. On the occasion of Soni Razdan’s 62nd birthday, Alia Bhatt made a special wish for her ‘stunning mommy’ along with sharing an eye-popping throwback picture of her and father Mahesh Bhatt.

Alia Bhatt took to her social media to share a black and white picture of parents Soni Razdan and Mahesh Bhatt to wish her mother happy birthday. She captioned it as, “Happy Birthday my stunning stunning mommy… thank you for being a classic example of beauty INSIDE OUT! No amount of words can express how fortunate I am to have a mother/friend/partner-in-trying-different-diets like you!! Even if I say it a million times a day it won't be enough.. But.. Alia Bhatt has always been all praise for her darling mother. During the promotions of Raazi, in which Soni Razdan played the role of Alia Bhatt’s mother, the actress revealed that her mother is a strong personality inside out. Recently, Soni Razdan also revealed about her #MeToo moment and came out in support of it. Talking to The Quint about the #MeToo wave and how women have suffered at the hand of many powerful men in the industry, Soni Razdan revealed that she is grateful that she hasn't faced sexual harassment when she approached somebody for work but accepts that she did face it in other ways. Soni Razdan revealed about an incident when a person tried to rape her but failed in his attempts. She said, “Like there was an incident that happened to me when I was on a film shoot and somebody tried to rape me, for example that kind of thing. Luckily they didn’t succeed.”

Just as Alia Bhatt is showering love on her mommy dearest on her birthday, Soni Razdan also poured out her heart on Alia Bhatt’s 25th birthday in March this year. Interestingly, the actress also revealed the story behind naming her daughter Alia and how much she means to her. She wrote, “On this day 25 years ago you were born Alia. Your name had already been chosen in my head. Alia Knightly was a lovely British Indian model and when I read that name I had decided if I had a girl we would call her Alia. Luckily your father agreed. I had no idea what the name meant then. It was many years later that I found out it means ‘exalted’. And that you most certainly are.”
