Aishwarya Rai Bachchan turns down surrogacy drama Jasmine

Bollywood diva Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is undoubtedly on the wishlist of every filmmaker in the industry. Rumours had it that other than doing Anurag Kashyap’s Gulab Jamun with her husband Abhishek Bachchan, the actress is in talks for another Bollywood film called Jasmine. But now the reports suggest that the actress has said no to the surrogacy drama.

Earlier talking about Jasmine, Aishwarya had confirmed that she was in talks with writers Siddharth-Garima for a movie, which is about a surrogate mother. The actress had said, “Our talks had stopped around February this year, but now, I will take the discussion further. Right now, I don’t know whether I’m doing it or not. I liked the concept, but asked them to make a few changes to the script.”

However, now the latest reports in DNA revealed, “Aishwarya has turned down Jasmine. There were several loopholes in the script. Although Siddharth and Garima’s basic idea was strong, there were many problems with the story, which the actress had reportedly pointed out to the writer duo. After the corrections, they approached her with a fresh script, but Ash still felt she couldn’t relate to it. So, she politely informed the team that she won’t be able to do the film anymore.”

Looks like the films time has not yet come. Jasmine was supposed to go on floors by now but has been pushed indefinitely. Filmmaker Shree Narayan Singh, who was initially backing the project, informs us that he’s not producing it anymore. “The film should have gone on floors by now. But Siddharth and Garima, too, had other commitments to complete. So, I will not be able to tell you when it will start. It’s currently on hold,” he says.

On the other hand, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's next project Gulab Jamun is slated to go on floors in the middle of next year after the actress returns from Cannes 2019.
