Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai met on the sets of Dhai Akshar Prem Ke in 2000. Back then, Aish was involved with another Bollywood actor while she and Abhishek were just friends. The actor himself was engaged to Karisma Kapoor, which was later called off.

It was during the shooting of song Kajre Re in Bunty Aur Babli that Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai grew fond of each other.

During the shooting of Guru, they spent a lot of time together. Aishwarya’s down-to-earth attitude wooed Abhishek and he fell in love with her.

After Guru, Abhishek proposed Aishwarya Rai in Toronto and she said yes.

“I was filming in New York for a movie. And, I used to stand on the balcony of my hotel room and wish that, 'One day, wouldn't it be nice if I was together with her, married. Years later, we were there for the premiere of Guru. After the premiere, we were back in the hotel. So, I took her to the very same balcony, and I asked her to marry me,” said Abhishek Bachchan while talking about his love life with a leading media house.

After the proposal, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan got engaged in January 2007. Later in April, they tied the knot in one of the biggest weddings Bollywood has ever seen.
