Akshay Kumar all set to return to horror comedy with Kanchana remake next year

Be it a high paced action drama or a light-hearted comedy, handsome hunk Akshay Kumar has never shied away from experimenting with roles and characters and has managed to charm us in every avatar. In his 27-year-long career, his role of Aditya in horror-comedy Bhool Bhulaiya, 11 years ago, is still the most memorable one. Now the buzz has it that the actor is all set to bring back the genre with the Hindi adaptation of the 2011 Tamil horror comedy Kanchana: Muni 2.

According to the reports in DNA, a source has revealed to the publication that, “Akshay has been in talks for the Kanchana remake for a long time. The film’s concept — horror laced with humour — appealed to him. But he had to schedule his dates for the project. He has finally given the movie a go-ahead and it’s happening next year, mostly after he wraps up Good News opposite Kareena Kapoor Khan.”

The source adds, “It will be directed by Raghava Lawrence who had written, helmed as well as played the lead role in the original. Akshay will portray his character, who gets possessed by a ghost. He knows the pulse of the audience and now with such movies doing  great business, he wants to approach Kanchana in a different way and make it a much bigger film.”

The reports further suggest that with this film Akshay Kumar will reunite with his Rowdy Rathore producer Shabina Khan. It is also said that the two are also working towards a sequel to their hit 2012 action comedy, which starred Sonakshi Sinha.

Well, it would definitely be interesting to see Akshya Kumar back in a horror-comedy. Isn’t it?
