Salman Khan, who was sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment in blackbuck poaching case, has been granted bail by Jodhpur Court on Saturday. Today’s judgement comes as a relief to the actor who spent his two nights in the Jodhpur Central Jail, which houses rape convict Asaram Bapu as well. On Saturday, Salman Khan’s bail plea was concluded in the Jodhpur District and Session Court by judge Ravindra Kumar Joshi. The order was announced post lunch.
Salman Khan’s legal team completed paperwork before the actor walked free. He will also have to pay Rs 50,000 as bond. The security arrangements outside Jodhpur Central Jail, where fans gathered in huge numbers to catch one glimpse of their superstar, were beefed up.
The case was being judged by Judge Ravindra Joshi who was transferred by the Rajasthan High Court on Friday as a part of the routine judicial exercise. Around 87 other judges were also transferred in the process.
The actor’s team said that they were willing to move higher court if the order doesn’t come out today. Getting the bail on Saturday comes as a huge relief to Salman Khan, who could have spent the entire weekend behind the bars till the proceedings continue on Monday. On Friday, the bail application was filed by Salman’s lawyer Mahesh Bora.
Meanwhile, a lot of Bollywood celebrities including Sonakshi Sinha, Saif Ali Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Shatrughan and Poonam Sinha, Malaika Arora Khan and Daisy Shah among others have visited Salman's residence Galaxy Apartments to meet his parents.
Filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala, who is a close friend of the actor, is in Jodhpur with Alvira and Arpita.
Salman Khan was convicted in 1998 Blackbuck Poaching Case on Thursday while the other co-accused Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Tabu and Neelam Kothari were acquitted of all the charges. Ever since the conviction, Bollywood has been expressing disappointment in court’s orders.
