Mumbai, May 18: Sophia Jamal Samtani, a Lebanese woman married to a Sindhi Indian, had the fortune to sit next to actor Ranbir Kapoor while on a flight from Dubai to Mumbai recently.

Ranbir had gone to Dubai to promote his upcoming film. The lady was sleeping when Ranbir came and sat next to her at the Dubai stopover.  She woke up 30 minutes before the flight was to land in Mumbai.

As Ranbir struck up a conversation with her, Sophia told him she had not seen many Hindi films, but Fanaa, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, made an impact on her.

Asked about any recent film that she saw, Sophia said: "Sorry bit I forgot Barfi. That was one film that will always remain entrenched in my memory. All three actors gave noteworthy performances, especially that guy Barfi."

They kept chatting and it was only when the plane landed, Ranbir introduced himself saying: "Ma'am, I am Barfi."

Sophia later told Mumbai Mirror: "When he told me he was the Barfi guy, I thought he was joking. Although he had the same spiky hair...but I couldn't place him.

It was when he insisted that I realised my faux pas. It was embarrassing. I am sure Barfi (note: she is still not calling him Ranbir) must have thought I am dumb."

As the flight came to a halt, a very sheepish Sophia requested Ranbir for a picture. "Thankfully, he agreed. I am so happy to have met Barfi ."
