New Delhi: On February 20, box office will witness two intense films - Badlapur and Qissa. Both being performance oriented films will make it difficult for viewers to choose one out of the two. Niche film Qissa can give a tough competition to Varun Dhawan's commercial flick Badlapur.
The story of Qissa revolves around Umber Singh (Irfan Khan) who always desires to have a son and to satiate his passion for having a male child; he raises his fourth daughter Kanwar Singh (Tilotima Shome) as son and finally also lets her marry another girl, which in turn paves way to serious complications.
The film shows the anguish of the girl who cross dresses as a boy and faces trouble while treating herself as a man and also not knowing how being a woman is.
Qissa is loaded with talented actors and having Irfan Khan who despite being a method actor has proved his mettle as a commercial actor is a big advantage for the movie. Tilotima Shome who plays his cross dresser daughter in the film is also known since ‘Monsoon Wedding' days.
Intriguing story, deep dialogues, screenplay, performances and story can support the film very well and will keep you hooked to your seats.
The film, which is directed by Anup Singh in the year 2013, has been critically acclaimed at various national and international platforms. Qissa stars Rasika Dugal, Tisca Chopra, Faezeh Jalali and Sonia Bindra along with Irfan Khan and Tilotima Shome.
The movie has also won the Netpac Award for World or International Asian Film in the Contemporary World Cinema section at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival.
