New Delhi: Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan's magic has worked at box office and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania's weekend box office collection says it loud. The flick after a good opening on Friday garnering Rs 9.02 cr has ended up its first weekend on brilliant note with Rs 33.74 cr nett in India.
HSKD surpasses ALL expectations and has a FANTABULOUS Sunday: Fri 9.02 cr, Sat 11.25 cr, Sun 13.46 cr. Total: Rs 33.74 cr nett. India biz”, tweets trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh.
Alia-Varun cute chemistry, flick's ode to classic love story ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge' and superb supporting are among the reasons for the flick's success. The flick has already recovered its production cost of Rs 29 cr.
For Varun Dhawan it's the biggest opener as his last release ‘Main Tera Hero' just made Rs 22.73 cr in its first weekend in India.
Not only at domestic market but overseas too is witnessing a brilliant response. Within two days HSKD has surpassed Varun' Main Tera Hero's lifetime business in USA-Canada. “HumptySharmaKiDulhania all set to emerge Varun Dhawan's HIGHEST grosser in USA-Canada. Crosses *lifetime biz* of #MainTeraHero in 2 days”, writes Adarsh.
Varun's debut flick Student of the year's two days total is less in compared to his latest release. “HumptySharmaKiDulhania is also ahead of #SOTY Fri + Sat biz by almost $ 50,000 in USA-Canada. SUPERB!”, tweeted Adarsh
“HumptySharmaKiDulhania has witnessed ample growth in key markets such as USA, Canada, UK, Australia and New Zealand. Sat better than Fri."
“HumptySharmaKiDulhania is way ahead of #MainTeraHero in UAE-GCC. Collects $ 294,000 [Rs 1.76 cr] till Sat. VERY GOOD!”, confirms Adarsh.
But for Alia it's a bit disappointing since her last flick ‘2 States' raked in Rs 38.26 cr in India which is ahead by a good margin. The Shashank Khaitan's directorial debut will easily surpass Rs 50 cr mark by its first week but will it enter the elite club is a major question.
On the other hand, for Ek Villain makers it's a celebratory time, it doesn't matter they are enjoying since day 1 of its release where it made Rs 16.72 cr followed by the weekend total of Rs 50.70 cr nett in India.
The Sidharth-Shraddha-Riteish starrer now by its third weekend has made Rs 103.37 cr which is just short of 2 States's lifetime collection of Rs 104 cr.
“EkVillain Weekend 3 - Rs 2.05 cr. Grand total: Rs 103.37 cr nett. India biz. BLOCKBUSTER”, confirms Adarsh.
But will it beat Holiday and Jai Ho's lifetime collection Rs 112.65 cr and Rs 111 cr respectively. Well, we wait for that.
