His mentor in Tollywood was film director Teja with whom he did the role of a 17-year-old in the movie Chitram in 2000.
He got the Filmfare Best Actor (Telugu) Award for the film Nuvvu Nenu. He displayed his dancing skills in the songs Udayinchina and Cheliya Cheliya in the film Kalusukovalani.
