Panjim: The 46th edition of International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is all set to open on Friday with a motley of spectacular films from across the world and global celebrities marking their presence at the popular festival.

The ten-day festival to begin here from November 20 will have a stellar line-up of world cinema and participation from national and international dignitaries, an official release issued by IFFI said.

Noted national and international film personalities like filmmakers Shekhar Kapur, Shyam Benegal, Kaushik Ganguli, Matthew Brown, producer- director Pablo Trapero, Alejandro Amenabar, Tom Hooper, Carlos Saura, Michael Radford, Jeon Kyu-Hwan, actors Anil Kapoor, Dev Patel, Julia Jentsch, music director AR Rahman will attend the festival.

'The Man Who Knew Infinity', the movie based on the life of Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan, starring Dev Patel, will kick start the IFFI 2015.

Country's annual biggest film fest will screen 187 movies in World Cinema section while 47 films will be shown in the Indian Panorama section. The International Competition will have 15 entries from across the globe, including countries like Argentina, Belgium, Bolivia, Colombia, France, Germany, Iceland to name a few.

Anil Kapoor will preside over the opening ceremony as the chief guest while music maestro AR Rahman will be the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the mega event.

Matthew Brown's The Man Who Knew Infinity is the opening film of the festival while world's third Sanskrit film Priyamanasam will open the Indian Panorama section.

Argentina's Oscar entry and this year's biggest Argentinean box office hit The Clan (El Clan) will be the closing film. Academy Award-winner director Tom Hooper's movie The Danish Girl will be the mid-fest film of the festival.

Spain is the Focus Country at the IFFI-2015.

The 46th edition of the festival in collaboration with International Council for Film, Television and Audiovisual Communication (ICFT), Paris and UNESCO will award the 'ICFT- UNESCO Fellini Prize' to a film.

The festival will also be recognising young talents under its new segment 'First Cut' to showcase some of the outstanding works of debutante directors of 2015.

Focusing on skill-building in filmmaking, the festival in association with the Oscar Academy will organise master classes with eminent Academy members including Mark Mangini, Milt Shefter, Humphrey Dixon to name a few.

The festival will feature a Special Retrospective on eminent Israeli filmmaker Amos Gitai. A Special Tribute to noted Danish-French actress, director and screenwriter Anna Karina will also be held.

Over 7,000 delegates will attend the festival while thousands of cinema lovers from across the globe are expected to throng Goa for taking part in the jamboree of cinema.

A special section 'Restored Classics' will be held to highlight National Film Heritage Mission (NFHM). The section will showcase world-class restorations of some landmark films of world cinema.

Other sections like Masterstroke and Festival Kaleidoscope will showcase the latest movies of the masters of world cinema.

Films from Palestine, China, Mexico, Sweden and other countries will be screened in these section.

The festival will also host the 9th edition of Film Bazaar that will focus on more than 150 film projects. Delegates from 38 countries will be participating in the Film Bazar.
