Mumbai, Dec 2: Shiv Sena Chief Bal Thackeray has described as "height of stupidity" Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's "love for Pakistan".
In an editorial in today's issue of party mouthpiece "Saamna", Thackeray said the actor who considers himself a 'badshah' has been shown his place by the Sena by protesting against his participation in an entertainment show to raise funds for Pakistani flood victims in London on November 28.
"He came to his senses and cancelled his participation," Thackeray claimed.
"Why did Shah Rukh never feel that he should do a charity show for flood victims in India, for the 26/11 terror victims or for rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits who have been ousted from their homeland," Thackeray asked.
Describing himself as the watchdog of nationalistic ethos, Thackeray said it was his duty to take to task people like Shah Rukh "who were overflowing with love for Pakistan".
He also said the government should find out the reason why the actor feels so much for Pakistan. "A JPC should be instituted into this 2G spectrum like scam."
But Thackeray said he was not criticising Shah Rukh because he was a "Khan".
"If there was an Akshay or Devgn in his place, I would have done the same," he said.
The news report of Shah Rukh's alleged participation in a show to be organised by a London-based Pakistani channel was given by "Saamna" based on an advertisement from the Internet.
However, Shah Rukh is in Berlin shooting for "Don 2" for the last couple of days. PTI
