New Delhi: Arjun Kapoor's ‘Tevar' isn't admired by the viewers as what its box office collections hint at. The movie opened on a dull note collecting Rs 7.05 cr on day 1 while with just a trivial rise it went on to garner Rs 7.70 cr nett on Saturday in India, as per leading website Koimoi.
This is a disappointing start considering Arjun's last few flicks were hits at box office. 2 States which also starred Alia Bhatt in the pivotal role made a substantial amount of Rs 12.42 cr on opening day and later entered Rs 100 cr club while his Gunday did a sizeable business of Rs 16 cr nett in India on its first Friday.
Sonakshi's ‘Holiday' made Rs 12 cr on opening day and while everything worked in its favour, the action drama also hit a ton at box office. In November, her Action Jackson however starred on a slow note making just Rs 9 cr on opening day yet it managed to make over Rs 60 cr lifetime collection.
Tevar is hit by its bad content and Arjun-Sonakshi's success graph doesn't seem to affect or bring any considerable change in it by any manner.
Tevar's collection is lesser than any of their last flicks and looking at such response, the movie won't yield much revenue in the coming days. The weekend total of this Amit Ravindernath Sharma directorial is expected to be around Rs 23 cr nett in India.
On the other hand PK, in its fourth week with much lesser number of screens is still keeping the cash registers ringing at box office. The movie on its fourth Friday collected Rs 2 cr to take its 22 days total to Rs 322 cr nett in India.
With Tevar (which was expected to give viewers a fresh option) getting a lukewarm response, much of the audience is once again expected to shift towards PK thereby helping it inch closer to Rs 350 cr mark nett in India.
