Chennai, March 27: Southern actress Lavanya Tripathi, who rose to stardom after a successful debut in producer S.S. Rajamouli's Telugu romantic drama "Andala Rakshasi", feels a successful banner adds weight to a project and helps in drawing crowds.

"Rajamouli's sir's name definitely added lot of weightage to my debut film, which had an all new team. He didn't merely fund the project, but was also constantly assessing us on the sets whenever he had time. But, his association with the project definitely drew masses to the cinemas," Lavanya told IANS.

But she admits a successful banner may not always churn out a blockbuster.

" 'Andala Rakshasi' worked because of music and the conviction with which my director handled the subject, and therefore, it is important to believe in content. If our producer funded our project, then it is evident he would have liked something in it," she added.

Lavanya, who started her career as a model, was crowned Miss Uttarakhand in 2006, is currently shooting for untitled Telugu project with Vishnu Manchu.

"I'm thankful to the director of my film to have given me an angelic character, which is quite contrary to what I played in my debut.

"I play a sweet and intellect doctor and I'm extremely happy that I get to rub shoulders with lot of industry veterans in the film," she said

Do you feel the pressure of being cast opposite an established actor?

"Yes, I could feel the pressure while working with Vishnu. I have to give 200 percent to match his expectations. But, I take it as a learning experience because when you are paired with a star actor, you automatically strive to work harder," she said.

For the 23-year old, it is important to satisfy the actor within her.

"I'm not in a hurry to sign films. Even after a good debut, I didn't jump into signing any film just like that because I have to satisfy the actor in me with the roles I choose. I also have a Tamil project in hand for which I will start shooting soon," she said.
