New Delhi: You have admired her playing bubly and chubly characters in most her flicks but Sonakshi Sinha has gone a step further and will now be playing a grandmother of the 63-year old South superstar Rajinikanth in Tamil flick ‘Lingaa'.
Yes, you heard it right! While the news already did rounds that the ‘Lootera' actress will mark her South debut opposite Rajiniknath, her role is what is more exciting for all her fans.
Rajinikanth has a twin role in the flick. One as an old age man, opposite whom Sonakshi is going to star, while the other will be his royal son who comes back to reign over his dynasty after finishing off his studies from abroad. South actress Anushka Shetty will be romancing with young one.
According to a leading daily, “The role picked by Sonakshi is meatier. The film's director Ravikumar too thought that she is well suited to enact the role of the girl from the 40s."
The actress is on the cloud nine as she is feeling herself lucky to star opposite the South superstar. In an interview to a leading daily Sonakshi Sinha said, “Very few people in the industry get an opportunity to do a film with Rajinikanth. If I had to make a debut in South, it had to be something as big as this. I can't wait to begin shooting for him in May.”
The ‘Muhurat' of "Lingaa", which is named after Rajinikanth's grandson (son of his daughter Aishwarya and actor Dhanush), took place earlier today with a customary puja on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Trithiya.
Rajinikanth, his friend and Kannada superstar Ambareesh and his wife Sumalatha, film's director K.S. Ravikumar, were present at the event.
The film spans across generations as it goes from current times to the flashback. The film will have music by double Grammy winner A R Rahman.
