The film is based on the Nineties gangwar between Satbir Gujar gang and Mahendra Fauji gang. It was inspector Preetam Singh who liquidated both the gangs.
In Zila Ghaziabd, Sanjay Dutt dons the khaki to enact Preetam Singh's role, while Arshad Warsi is Mahendra Fauji and Vivek Oberoi is Satbir Gujar.
