Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan is disappointed that Sundays are not the same as they used to be and the expectation of looking forward to it has disappeared.

Writing in his blog on bigadda.com, the superstar says: ''The joy of a break from a harsh weekly schedule has dimmed There is no more those lazy afternoons with friends and family in the lawns, the lunches by the tree, idle gossip, laughter, gaiety, the impromptu cricket game, a film on video later in the evening, all huddled together on the floor, the fun card game 'chaukdi' and its competitive pairing and then the exhausted body resting back after an early dinner, prepared and ready for the coming days. ''

He reminisced that the simple joys of life were then the most enjoyable and the most enduring.

''Now with each member setting about his or her work in different directions, at different locations, in and out of the country, that spirit has travelled too far and away. The simple joys of life now come with great apprehensions. What to do, where to go, who will be there, what will they say, what will we say, just an entire library of questions and more questions. I miss those days and long for them to reappear. Will they ever?'' he asked.

The actor said communication access and the speed with which it keeps invading our existence is largely responsible for that missed Sunday. Conversation has been replaced by the TV. ''In company, we tend to talk less and look for the silences to be filled in by programmes on the television or the activity of the mobile. And soon when most of what we want will be accessible on this phone of ours, we shall distance ourselves even further. Is that what modern invention is deliberately wanting us to do ? Isolate us and keep us pinned to these gadgets. Keep us within the confines of our homes and cutting out the desire to travel move and discover, since all of it can be available to us in the palm of our hands!!'', he added.
