New Delhi: The makers of the Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Happy New Year' apart from entering into Rs 200 cr club, has one more reason to cherish. The movie has garnered a place into the noted Oscar's library for its screenplay.

The library of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has officially selected the screenplay of the Farah Khan directorial for its permanent Core Collection.

Happy New Year which started on a thunderous note ending its first weekend with a massive Rs 108.86 cr nett in India is still running in selected theatres and is in its fourth week now.

Director Farah Khan shared the news on the social media quoting, “1 more reason 2 celebrate!! #HNY script goes to the Oscar library!! Bigg kiss to my co writers @mayurpuri n Althea k”.

Happy New Year in Oscar library

The Oscar Library which is accessible to students, movie directors, writers, actors and other people from the field of cinema for research will now be adding up HNY's screenplay to it.

For years, this collection has grown to include scripts for more than 11,000 produced films spanning the years 1910 to the present.

It's however, surprising to see the movie, which has mostly received negative reviews from the critics, making into the coveted library. It's quite evident as to why SRK' earlier superhit Devdas and Chak De India made into the prestigious Oscar's library but for HNY, which is heavily being criticized for its screenplay, it's hard to believe.

The movie, which also starred Abishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood and Vivaan Shah in the pivotal roles, released at Diwali this year.
