New Delhi: The ‘Haider' actor Shahid Kapoor has turned 34 today and what a year it is turning out to be for him. Winning a Filmfare award is a dream for any actor and now when Shahid has lived that dream, he must be looking ahead to revive it again.
With ‘Shandaar' and ‘Udta Punjab' lined up for him, both being an unconventional tale, Shahid is geared up to give yet another milestone performance. While we'll wait for that to happen, today on his 34th birthday we would like to unearth some of his unknown facts, which only Shahid's die hard fan would be aware of.
The actor is an animal lover and owns a puppy. Two years ago a pet dog named Kaizer died but Shahid brought himself another one. The actor has always been favorable in promoting the idea of being kind and loving towards animals. He also posted a picture with his new puppy on Instagram.
Before he marked his Bollywood debut, Shahid was a background dancer in Shiamak Dawar's dance troupe. The actor was first seen in the film ‘Taal' as one of the dancers in the song 'Kahin Aag Lage Lag Jaaye'. Towards the end Shahid can be seen draping a cloth around Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
During the earlier stages of his career, the actor lacked confidence due to his skinny physique. Shahid first worked in Aryans' music video 'Aankhon Mein Tera Hi Chehra' and it was only then that the actor regained his confidence.
Shahid who in reality flew a fighter jet in Pankaj Kapoor's ‘Mausam' is fond of cars and bikes.
According to DNA, actor's favourite character is the ‘Joker' from The Dark Knight and he wishes to play that role.
Among singers, it's rapper Pitbull his favorite. Not surprisingly, Shahid's favorite actor is his dad Pankaj Kapoor while Hollywood's Julia Roberts is his favourite actress.
Shahid is a strict vegetarian and resolutely follows his diet. It is also said that his former girlfriend Kareena Kapoor Khan turned vegetarian only when he insisted her.
Shahid who made his debut with Ishq Vishq, initially got rejected for the role since he was too skinny. In an interview to TOI, Shahid said, "At 20, I looked 15 as I was really skinny." But couple of years later he was a changed man and this time when he auditioned, the makers selected him for the role.
Once Shah Rukh Khan visited Shamiak Davar's dance Academy when he spotted a rather lanky looking Shahid Kapoor and asked Shamiak if he had deliberately stopped feeding his dancers! Shahid in an interview to a leading daily has been quoted as saying that it was this incident that motivated him to work upon his body.
