Mumbai: Superstar Shah Rukh Khan had been on all three previous seasons of Koffee with Karan but not this one. Why did he not come on the show ? We have a few reasons.
Superstar Shah Rukh Khan and filmmaker Karan Johar have been friends since the days of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jaenge. Johar wasn't even a filmmaker then and did a small role in the film.
Later, the friendship grew and Shah Rukh did Karan's debut directorial film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and later Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham, Kal Ho Na Ho and My Name is Khan.
They even co-produce films together at times. But it seems this friendship is slowly falling apart and Shah Rukh's absence from Karan's chat show Koffee with Karan points to the fact.
Shah Rukh had been on all three previous seasons of the show but not this one. Here are a few reason we believe Shah Rukh did not sit on Karan's couch.
The biggest reason it seems is Karan Johar's growing proximity to SRK's arch-rival Salman Khan. Salman was Karan's guest in the opening episode of the chat show. Salman and Karan are apparently coming closer.
Karan, however, denies all reports of a fallout with Shah Rukh. But Shah Rukh not being offered Johar's Shuddhi distinctly points towards the fact that there is certainly some problem between the two friends.
The current season of Koffee with Karan is being termed a failure simply because of the pairings that appeared on the show. Most of them were simply to promote a film while others were plain boring.
Madhuri Dixit Nene and Juhi Chawla for 'Gulaab Gang', Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor for 'Gunday' and Farhan Akhtar and Vidya Balan for 'Shaadi Ke Side Effects' came on the couch for promotional purposes.
As a result, Shah Rukh chose to stay away as he did not have any film to promote or talk about as his next 'Happy New Year' is due only in October.
Shah Rukh can be given the benefit of doubt as well because of his ill-health. Shah Rukh got injured on the sets of 'Happy New Year' which led to a delay in the shoot and work being piled up.
Shah Rukh might have given Koffee with Karan a miss to fulfill his professional commitments on time. Other things that kept him busy were reading Anurag Kashyap's film's script and a cameo in Bhoothnath returns. So all of it together might have resulted in his absence from Johar's couch.
Well, we wish that Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan are still good friends and hope to the superstar in the next season of the chat show.
