In an interview to HT City, Shaan said; "Personally, I can't stand the song. It evokes no sentiments in me, and makes me think that people have started enjoyig stupid, nonsense things."
Shaan says, playback singing has lost its charm nowadays.
"These days, the voices are so heavily processed and everything is being accepted. Earlier, as a playback singer, singing for a different actor would require me to sing differently. Now, a singer can be completely out of sync, and still the song does well."
Shaan, 39, will sit as a judge for the second season of music reality show, Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar after a gap of one and a half year.
"I'm looking forward to challenge the abilities of the already-tested singers on the show", says Shaan. Shantanu Moitra will also be the co-judge on the show.
Shaan's popular sings include Jab Se Tere Naina (Saawariya), Suno Na (Jhankaar Beats) and Behti Hawa Saa (3idiots).
Shaan has invited aspiring disc jockeys, sound engineers and composers to give a new twist to his father, Bengali composer Manas Mukherjee's song Nania, with creative crowd-sourcing.
"Naina is a very beautiful and emotional song and it is really close to my heart. It is a 35-year-old song and through this creative invite, I'm looking at giving a music composer an opportunity to add that charm and pep to my dad's work that would give it a dynamic sound. Let's see how it turns up.'
