Mumbai, May 17: The Munnabhai of Bollywood Sanjay Dutt on Thursday surrendered before a Mumbai court and was taken to Mumbai's Arthur Road jail at around 11 pm to complete his jail term.
Dutt has been sentenced to five years in prison for a 1993 weapons conviction linked to a deadly terror attack in Mumbai that killed 257 people.
Before surrender, he spent his day with family and friends. Dutt married Maanyata in 2008 and has two kids.
Dressed in a white kurta, with cropped hair and a tilak on his forehead, a visibly emotional Sanjay waved before walking hand-in-hand with wife Manyata towards his car.
The son of eminent actors Sunil and Nargis Dutt, Sanjay's life has been the subject of intense speculation, beginning with his battles with drug addiction, the early death of his mother and first wife and, of course, his involvement in the 1993 bombings that killed nearly 300 people.
