New Delhi: Aamir Khan, who will be essaying the role of a wrestler in ‘Dangal' wanted to have the real life wrestler Sangram Singh opposite him in the film. Being the perfectionist that he is, Khan wanted to cast Sangram so as to bring authenticity in the fight scenes, especially in the climax.
But, however, Sangram has refused to act in the film and Aamir is not very happy with his decision. Apparently, Sangram's character looses a fight to Aamir's character in the film and this didn't go very well with the Olympian wrestling champion.
He says, "I have the highest regard for Aamirji, and when he asked me to be part of Dangal, I was most happy. Unfortunately, I had to lose the match with Aamirji. This I couldn't do."
On being questioned on ego and pride, Sangram explained, "Nahin, ego aur pride ki baat nahin hai. It is to do with preserving the dignity of the respect and love that my country has given me. Just for the pleasure of being seen on screen with Aamirji, I can't play a loser. It will disappoint my supporters."
"With superstars like Aamirji and Salmanji playing real-life wrestlers the sport will get some positive attention. Just like hockey did when Shah Rukhji played a hockey player in Chak De," hopes the wrestling champ.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, 'Dangal' will be releasing in December 2016.
