Archrivals Vivek Oberoi and Salman Khan will use the same platform at the IIFA to announce the charities they support, says a media report. Both are known to do charity work, independent of each other. Now, VO's Project Hope is likely to clash with Salman's Ambassador of Change.
As a symbol of solidarity with the Sri Lankan people, IIFA in partnership with Habitat for Humanity will adopt and rebuild a village in for refugees, with the proceeds of the cricket match being donated to this cause. Habitat for Humanity is an organisation initiated by US President Jimmy Carter.
Salman is doing it because he has been announced ambassador of change for the awards
Meanwhile, VO has decided to restart Vivek Oberoi's Project Hope in strife-torn north Sri Lanka and help in the reconstruction of a village there.
Vivek is expected to make a formal announcement at the event. Says a source close to Vivek, "VO makes an early arrival (on June 1) to scout villages where he will build schools to rehabilitate Tamil children in war torn regions. Based on the Project Devi format, the schools will focus on healing the children and securing their future."
"Vivek wants the children not to grow with hate and anger in their hearts. Vivek feels everybody needs to do their own bit in helping get the children a healthier and brighter future," reveals the source.
