Mumbai, Mar 24: Bollywood star Salman Khan, his father former scriptwriter Salim Khan and sister Alvira today went to the residence of co-star Sanjay Dutt at Imperial Heights in Pali Hill and met him.
Sanjay Dutt has been ordered by the Supreme Court to serve three and a half years in jail, and he has been given four weeks time.
Bollywood stars across the spectrum have been appealing to the government to pardon Sanjay Dutt and waive off his imprisonment on grounds of good behaviour.
Sanjay Dutt has two kids Iqra and Shahraan from wife Maanyata, and he appears to be very much perturbed over the issue of going to jail for another three and a half years. Sanjay had already spent 18 months in jail in 1993.
Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty also called on Sanjay Dutt at his residence.
Later, she told mediapersons that the Mumbai film industry was not united like that of the South while throwing its lot behind Sanjay.
“I am completely Heart broken. I had a family relation with Sanju. We did a lot of films. He has suffered for the last 20 years and was under fear of being labelled a terrorist.
“One is sent to jail for reform but what more reform do you want from Sanju. He has done a lot of good things. Unfortunately, our Hindi film industry is not as good as the South.”
Shilp reminded that Sanjay himself called on Kargil war widows and donated money. He donated Rs 3 crore for tsunami relief, she added.
“I don't care for other people, whether they come or not, but I and Raj (Kundra) love Sanju.”
“Sanjay is a very strong man. We all can hope and pray. What is most sad is not going in, but staying away from family, wife and kids.”
Shilpa was accompanied by another star Preity Zinta.
