Salman Khan hit and run case: Alcohol level in his blood higher than normal

New Delhi: A forensic expert associated with Salman Khan's hit and run case claimed today that the alcohol level in his blood was higher than it is allowed to drive.

The alcohol level which is permissible to drive a car is 30 mg. According to the TV reports a forensic expert told the court that it was 62 mg in Salman's blood at the night of the case.

A witness in the case produced by defence had earlier told the court that he met Salman at his place just after the accident and he did not smell of liquor.

Chiky Pandey who is brother of actor Chunky Pandey stated before sessions court judge DW Deshpande, "I met Salman on the next day morning at 9am at his place (few hours after the mishap at around 3am) and hugged him, but he did not smell of alcohol,"

The incident occurred on the early hours of September 28 2002 when Salman's car rammed into the pavement where homeless people were sleeping. The unfortunate event cost one life and four others were injured.

On November 24 Salman was exempted from the appearing before the court on the grounds that the prosecutor had not provided list of witnesses to the defence. And the next hearing was scheduled for December 3.

On the last hearing Special Public Prosecutor Pradeep Gharat blamed the defence of delaying the case by different means. The sessions court judge then slammed the defence lawyer and ordered the him to finish the case by December.

Salman has pleaded not guilty in the case. He is chargesheeted for culpable homicide and if convicted can face prison upto 10 years.

Salman arrived in the court with sister Alvira and newly-wed Arpita Khan. He flew to Mumbai late in the night yesterday after attending #21YearsofAapKiAdalat event with Shah Rukh and Aamir.
