New Delhi: After years of enmity it seems Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi and superstar Salman Khan have agreed on something.
It is not like they are burying the hatchet or taking steps to rebuild their relationship, but lately both of them have shared same views on giving the differently abled citizens an equal right in the society.
Last evening, the three day festival film festival for persons with disabilities concluded with Vivek Oberoi being the guest of honour. At the inauguration of this event, which was called a ‘great start' by renowned lyricist Gulzar; Salman Khan had sent a special video message for the viewers.
In the clip, Salman apologised for not making it to the event, he said; “Cinema, movies and Entertainment is a big part of the Indian culture and I think everybody should be a part of this culture and why should the differently abled people be left out of this? Many who can see but not hear and some who can hear but not see, they all should go and enjoy and should be provided with the necessary facilities.”

Reiterating what Salman had said, Vivek called the initiative fantastic. He also said, “I'm very happy to see so many films sensitizing the public towards the differently abled people in our society and we are talking about inclusiveness.”
The Krrish 3 actor also shared a personal story about his niece Pashmina who is a special child and the ordeals the family had to go through to have her admitted in a school. “We wanted to give her a normal childhood and upbringing. She's ten years now and she is a star her school today. She competes with all the normal children athletics and beats them all. She's the no. 1 gold medallist in her school and her friends and teachers help her in her studies,” he said.
“It's beautiful to see her grow up in that environment and we need to create the same environment in our country for the especially-abled people,” he added.
