Kolkata, May 29 : Very choosy about films at this point of career, actor Rupa Ganguly is upbeat about her role in ‘Namte Namte' and the co-stars Saswata Chatterjee and Rajatava Dutta, with whom she had shared the frame years back in Goutam Ghosh's ‘Abar Aryane'.

“Great co-actors with whom I share wonderful rapport.  We complement each other during work, we discuss before a shoot and that helps. We never seek to outdo each other,” Rupa told mediapersons in between a shoot with the two popular Bengali actors here at a studio today.

“We had last worked in Goutam's Abar Aryane,” she recalled.

About her role of a typical housewife, unhappy with her private life in the film, produced by 3 Edots, Rupa said, “She is not like me at all but I loved the way Rana (director Rana Bose) had envisaged the role, I agreed for two factors - because of the script and Rana whose work on small screen I had seen in past.

“I am happy with the way the character is shaping up at the shoots,” she added after a pause.

Pointing out she can now play characters spanning different age groups, from a not-so-young housewife to an elderly person, Rupa said, “I am really eager to work with the directors of new age Bengali films - Srijit, Ringo - and a lot of others who have fresh, innovative ideas.

“This is a whole new exciting phase for Bengali films with a bunch of new directors arriving at the scene and the situation is vastly different from the time when directors like Goutam Ghose and Aparna Sen used to make a few films but there was not much activity otherwise,” Rupa said.

Asked if she had any plans to shift base to Mumbai, the ‘Draupadi' in Mahabharata said, “What is the point? Why should I push myself so hard?”
