Lucknow: After Madhya Pradesh government, the Uttar Pradesh government today announced exemption of entertainment tax on Rani Mukerji starrer action drama ‘Mardaani' as it hightlights the problem of child trafficking in the country.
The state government has decided to exempt the film from entertainment tax as it raises awareness about the trafficking of girls and women, an official statement issued here said. The movie, starring Rani as a police officer, released on August 22.
The Pradeep Sarkar directorial is having tough with Singham Returns which has an upper hand this week. ‘Mardaani' on Monday collected Rs 2.43 cr and within four days of its release, it has made Rs 16.89 cr nett in India.
At overseas, it has garnered Rs 4.25 cr nett. Here are its overseas figures. USA & Canada- Rs 1.02 cr, UK- Rs 0.46 cr, UAE/G.C.C.- Rs 2.56 cr, Australia- Rs 0.18 cr, NZ- Rs 0.03 cr.
