Known as the sex symbol of Nineties, Urmila is one of those actresses who are acknowledged both as a child artistes and as well as adult actors. She was awarded the scholarship (state wide conducted examination) in the 4th standard. Before entering Bollywood, Urmila acted in a TV serial called ‘Katha Sagar' in 1986 and ‘Zindagi' in 1987.Urmila made her screen debut as a child artiste in the 1980 movie ‘Kalyug'. She debuted as an adult in Narasimha (1991).
