Ranbir Kapoor, the latest heartthrob of tinsel town who wowed the audiences with his sparkling performance in flicks like Raj Kumar Santoshi's ‘Azab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani' and Karan Johar's ‘Wakeup Sid', ditched Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar by declining to work with them.
In fact, Karan Johar, who is also a very close friend of Shah Rukh Khan, wanted to make a film with Ranbir Kapoor and SRK in the lead. He had even written a script especially for this purpose and approached the scion of Raj Kapoor family for his approval.
However, to Karan Johar's dismay and astonishment, Ranbir refused to feature in the film, as it had Shah Rukh Khan in it. The buzz doing the rounds in the industry is that when Karan Johar insisted, Ranbir flatly told him that SRK would get a preferential treatment by him in the flick, and hence he was not open to doing the project.
Source close to Ranbir say that he felt that King Khan would totally eclipse him in the film and the audiences would not even notice him. At this stage of his career, Ranbir Kapoor does not want to do any such movie with SRK or any other big star who can dominate the film, though after sometime it would be a different ballgame.
However, Karan pointed out that Ranbir Kapoor had worked with Prakash Jha in ‘Raajneeti', despite of the presence of big stars like Ajay Devgan, Nana Patekar, Manoj Bajpayee etc. But, Ranbir felt that it was one off affair and could not be a regular occurring in his budding career.
‘Raajneeti' is a political drama starring Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif in the lead. Katrina's character is said to be based on Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
