New Delhi: All previous box office records are going to be decimated this Decemeber with two biggest superstars Rajinikanth and Aamir Khan from Tollywood and Bollywood respectively are set with their much awaited release.
Rajinikanth's ‘Lingaa's trailer has set the curious fans craving for more and by looking at it, one could easily bet on its super success. But what has come at fore is that Lingaa has already turned into a money-spinner raking in whooping Rs 200 cr.
So, first of all we would like to clear the picture of ‘Lingaa' box office story. This much anticipated release on December 12th has been acquired by Eros International for Rs 120 cr. Another Rs 80 cr are expected to be raked in by its makers.
According to a leading daily, “There are huge numbers already in circulation, and it is a matter of time before the deals are signed on the dotted line. 55-60 crore are all set to come in for the satellite rights of the Tamil and Telugu version. Further, 60-65 crore offer is already there for the taking w.r.t. Tamil theatrical rights in India. Telugu theatrical rights are further fetching them 30-35 crore. In addition, the film is being sold overseas for approx. 30 crore just for the Tamil version. In addition to this all, there are music rights which are with Eros.”
With such massive amount already in their kitty, one could only expect gold at box office once the movie releases in December. With Rajinikanth leading ahead in the chart of the highest grossers of regional cinema with his Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer ‘Endhiran/Robot', his Lingaa is surely going to set the box office on fire.
While Rajinikanth tops the chart in South cinema, Mr. Perfectionist Aamir is the undisputed king in Bollywood with his last year's release ‘Dhoom 3'. Salman Khan's ‘Kick', Shah Rukh Khan ‘Happy New Year', Hrithik's ‘Bang Bang' came to compete but nil succeeded in destroying the set record.
In this scenario, all eyes are on Aamir Khan who is expected to break his own record. PK starring Anushka Sharma, Sanjay Dutt, Sushant Singh Rajput among others has earned massive Rs 85 cr just by selling its satellite rights while Worldwide distribution rights are sold for Rs 145 cr including Marketing & Prints Costs.
With so much money acquired, we certainly hope PK which releases a week after Rajinikanth ‘Lingaa' lives up to the hype created and sets new benchmark at box office.
