Mahesh said the film is a cocktail of some real-life experiences of its director Vikram Bhatt who was in a relationship with an actress.
“There are also innumerable tales of leading ladies using black magic for their careers. These are just whispers,” Mahesh told reporters here when asked about the inspiration behind the film.
Starring Bipasha Basu and Emraan Hashmi, the thriller, which is scheduled for release on September 7, also takes a cue from the life of an actor from South India who killed himself after losing mental balance.
“It was said that he used Satanic powers to enhance his career,” Mahesh said while recalling the incident.
He also clarified that the film is not based on Vikram Bhatt's life, but some portions of it.
“It is about how desperate actors get when they find a difficult patch in their career. The film deals with the desire of man wanting to hold on to power and glory eternally,” the producer said.
Confident of the success of the film, which will also be released in 3D, Mahesh said, “It makes your nightmares come true, but also makes your dreams come true”.
