New Delhi: The Film Certification Appellate Tribunal has allowed the release of a pro-Khalistan Punjabi film Sadda Haq, which will be released in theatres from Friday (April 5).

The tribunal overturned the decision of Central Board of Film Certification to ban the film on grounds that the strong pro-Khalistan sentiment could create law and order problems in Punjab.

Producer Kuljinder Sidhu, who also plays the leading role of a hockey player-turned-militant in the film says, there is nothing wrong in a moview prijecting the viewpoint of a militant, when films on criminals like Bandit Queen and Once Upon a time in Mumbaai, are allowed.

The CBFC had asked Sidhu to delete 20 scenes that projected sympathy towards the Khalistan movement./ Sidhu's brother Goldie joined the militant ranks and was killed by security forces in 1992.

One song in the film glorifies Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and Beant Singh's killer Balwant Singh Rajoana, describing them as baghis (rebels). The song is however not part of the film to be released on Friday.

BJP leader Balram Das Tandon said it was inappropriate to equate Guru Gobind Singh and Bhagat Singh with Rajoana.
