New Delhi: After the revelation that Priyanka's character in ‘Madamji' is based on the life of an item girl-turned-star wife, speculations have began that the film's inspiration comes from Manyta Dutt's life.
The story line of Madhur Bhandarkar's film has striking resemblance to the life of Sanjay Dutt's wife. Priyanka's character in the film is being reported to be of an item girl. A leading daily reports that after Priyanka's marriage to a star, her husband has to buy her seductive video footage.
Manyata who was born in a Marathi Muslim family as Dilnawaz Sheikh appeared in an item number in Prakash Jha's ‘Gangajal'. It was Jha who gave her the screen name Manyata, which she adopted as her legal name.
After the marriage, Sanjay reportedly tried to persuade the producers of ‘Gangajal' to drop the seductive number from the film.
Rumours have it that Sanjay was embarrassed by her performance in the video.
Madhur Bhandarkar is already known to make films inspired from real life incidents. All of his previous films from ‘Chandni Bar' to ‘Heroine' had female protagonist inspired from real life characters. So if Madamji is really based on Manyata's life, it is no surprise.
But if it is really the case and Bhandarkar is really trying to portray Manyata in his film, it is expected to generate controversy in coming months. But it depends how much content of the film resembles with Manyata's life.
It is being reported that Madhur had only one actress in his mind to play the lead in ‘Madamji' and that was Priyanka. The director even waited for a couple of months so Priyanka can clear her schedule.
