Both her parents are noted physicians in the Indian Army. She also has a brother; Siddharth, who is 7 years younger to her. She completed her education from St. Maria Goretti College in Bareilly and La Martiniere Girls' school in Lucknow. Due to regular posting that her parents had she lived across many places like Delhi, Pune, Lucknow, Bareilly, Ladakh, Chandigarh and Ambala. Priyanka calls Barielly her hometown as she has many childhood memories from that place. Priyanka was sent to US to stay up with her aunty at the age of 13 in order to complete her higher education. She studied in schools across, Massachusetts, Newton, New York, Cedar Rapids, Lowa and Queens, as her aunt too had to frequently shift across cities due to her job.Her very early achievement was to get selected as the first and the only Indian Student at state level for the National Opus Honour Choir. Priyanka in one of interviews revealed memories of facing bullying and racial issue. Finally in her late teens she returned back to India and took up studies in Army Public School in Bareilly. It was during this period that her mother persuaded her to enter beauty peagent; the first being Femina Miss India in 2000. In the same year she went on to being crowned as Miss World, Miss World Continental Queen of Beauty- Asia & Oceania. Her mother gave up her career as a Gyanecologist to support her daughter with her film career. Priyanka was supposed to make her debut with Humraaz opposite Bobby Deol, but somehow the plan got shelved and she ended up starring in 'Thamizhan' opposite Tollywood actor Vijay.Priyanka took up roles for second lead in movies like Andaaz, Aitraaz, and The Hero. She also had in her kitty movies like, Plan, Asambhav, and Kismat. She made a breakthrough with Aitraaz and Mujhse Shaadi Karogi both the roles of being extremely glamorous. She even won Filmfare award for Best Performance in Negative Role Female for Aitraaz. Her career graph took a leap with films like, Waqt: Race against Time with Akshay Kumar, Barsaat with Bobby Deol, Bluffmaster with Abhishek Bachchan and Reitesh Deskhmukh.In year 2006, Priyanka starred opposite Hrithik Roshan in his home production 'Krishh', the sci-fic movie went onto to being a super hit and she became a part of that year's blockbuster hit movie. Finally she ended up her year (2006) with Farhan Akthar's remake of yesteryears hit film 'Don' opposite Shah Rukh Khan. She replayed the role played by Zeenat Aman.Next she starred in a multi-star film Salaam-e-Ishq, she was paired opposite Salman Khan. The also had John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Juhi Chawla, Vidya Balan etc.In 2008, she supported and acted opposite her then boyfriend Harman Baweja in Harry Baweja's film Lovestory 2050, The film tanked at the box office and so their her relationship with Harman.She gave Bollywood some worst movies like, Drona opposite Abhishek Bachchan, God tussi great ho (remake of Bruce Almighty), Chamku opposite Bobby Deol.The same year Priyanka landed up in Madhur Bhandarkar's much coveted and critically acclaimed film 'Fashion'. The movie launched Priyanka Chopra as the Bollywood's super starlet. She won National Award for her role in Fashion. Since then she never looked back and gave one after one hits with Dostana opposite Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham, Kaminey opposite Shahi Kapoor, 7 Khoon Maaf, and Don 2.In between she also acted opposite her ex-flame Harman Baweja in Ashutosh Gowarikar's 'What's Your Rashee'. Priyanka was considered for inclusion of her name in Guiness World Book of Records for portraying 12 characters in one single movie. In year 2012, Priyanka had 2 major films in her lap, Agneepath opposite Hrithik Roshan and Barfi! opposite Ranbir Kapoor and Ileana D'cruz. In Barfi! Priyanka portrayed an autistic girl's character 'Jhilmil' who falls in love with a deaf and mute guy named 'Barf!' (played by Ranbir Kapoor). Priyanka calls her performance in Barf! artistically satisfying.In the same year Priyanka Chopra launched her music album 'In My City' featuring American singer, and songwriter Will.i.am. The album had a huge global success.
