Panaji, Jul 2: Chandan Roy Sanyal's portrayal of edgy, coke lover Mikhail in 2009 film “Kaminay” earned him immense critical acclaim and the actor hopes he gets to taste the same success with his maiden solo lead film “Prague”.

The Ashish R Shukla directed psychological thriller will see the 33-year-old actor play a passionate architect with delusions about love and life.

“I am very excited not nervous. I have a feeling that ‘Prague' might just make me. It might just throw me in a bigger space. I am hoping it does that so I can do much better work, focus on better cinema, better roles,” Chandan told PTI.

“Prague” also stars Elena Kazal, Arfi Lamba, Mayank Kumar and Soniya Bindra in pivotal roles and will hit theatres on July 26.

Even after being appreciated for his role in Vishal Bhardwaj's “Kaminay”, the actor found it difficult to find his feet in Bollywood and had to content himself with small roles in films like “Faltu”, “Tell Me O Kkhuda”.

“As an outsider I have been trying to fight it out. The whole fight is to not succumb to pressures and find my own space. I was not getting the kind of roles I wanted to do. I decided at that time that I would not do wrong films.

“So, I just did two films and it gave me a lot of money and I sat quiet and waited for the right opportunity. I am happy to see the audiences' excitement still there for me.People want to see me do good role, star in good films,” Chandan said.

Post “Kaminay”, Chandan did not just limit himself to Bollywood. He went ahead and tried his luck in Bengali films- “Mahanagar@Kolkata”, “Aparajita Tumi” and the recently released “Ganesh Talkies”.

“I am not a regular run-of-the-mill guy. I will not limit myself. I am very strong-headed. I have my own agendas in life and I am going to do what I want. It will take time but it is fine with me,” Chandan said.

This year, the actor has three big releases lined up. Besides “Prague”, Chandan will also be seen Nikhil Advani's “D-Day” and Subhash Ghai's “Kaanchi”.  The actor is also currently shooting in Goa for Abbas Tyrewala's “Mango”.

“In ‘Kaanchi', I am one of the leads along with Kartik Tiwari. I have got the opportunity to work with veterans like Rishi Kapoor and Mithun Chakraborty. ‘D-Day' is a crime-thriller. In ‘Mango', I play a fruit lover. It is a very young and interesting film,” Chandan said.
